The crazy thing is, you’d think something this radical would be rejected because it threatens capital and corporate and institutional power. But there is still a product here. There is money to be made here.
Fitness corporations in the US have to get millions of new subscribers and clients every year, because some many people leave so quickly. No one commits to anything. Because no one enjoys it. People get excited at certain points of the year, get excited about the idea of being healthier (a very honorable and quite frankly, valuable motivation which could be actualized), and begin a program. They will be done within months.
But, exercise that you actually enjoyed? Exercise that you look forward to? That would create a massive and dedicated consumer base of individuals willing to pay a substantial cost. There are research jobs here. There are dietitian jobs here. There are gym owner jobs here. There are training and coach jobs here. There are sports industries here. There is money here. This isn’t radical anti-communist ramblings (although those are wonderful to read).
They’re very real and potentially neutral observations that can be a real win-win for both us as individuals and our economic institutions. And, honestly, national sovereignty and defense as well.
I keep coming back to yoga, running, and rock climbing.
When I run, I will run short distances when I want to feel powerful.
I will run long distances when I want to prove to myself that I can endure, that I can face hardship, breathe, take one step at a time, and find peace when in a chaotic and intense environment. I really like long runs.
When I rock climb, I feel powerful, creative, connected to the outdoors and to the community. I get to see the really shocking capacity of the human body. It never looks or feels like something our body should be good at. You see someone upside down, holding their body weight on the ceiling of a cave by 2 finger tips… that shouldn’t be possible. But it is. And that is incredible.
When I do yoga, I feel similar things. I feel powerful in some positions, flexible and unbreakable in others. In some I feel stable and calm. In others I feel rooted and sturdy. And in others, tension and stress melts from my body.
I cannot wait to exercise every week. I do it more consistently now than ever before in my life. Especially when I followed the mainstream approach.
Go figure out what feels good to you.
I bet you’ll never struggle to “work out” again.
How do I know I’m right? Why should you trust me? Because, me being right only benefits you. It doesn’t benefit me. I’m not a cult leader, I don’t want you to follow me. I don’t even want you to know who I am. I’m not even using my real name on this platform. I don’t make any money. I have no sponsorships. There are no affiliate links on this page. You can’t buy anything from me. I do not own any sort of business or enterprise. And I’m not a grifter. I haven’t asked you for money. I dare you to try to send me money, individual and corporation alike. You literally cannot.
I left a harmful and miserable world and found my way to a joyful and supportive one and I feel better every day of my life for it. I think it is something that everyone deserves to feel. I genuinely think it is a natural human right to experience this. And so I would like you to go seek this feeling too. We all deserve to.
